Front Axle Rebuild Question
Hello,
My front axle has alot of play front to back. I have my 149 all tore apart and thought this would be a good time to fix it. I was going to replace the pin with a grade 8 3/4" bolt. I have the bolt in there and just the oil pan in place and will have clearance between the head and oil pan. However, when I place my mule drive on I would only have about a 1/4" clearance between the mule drive and the front of the axle. So I would have to cut the jam nut to 1/4" or less, I think that would be too thin. What are you guys opinons on this? Thank's again for all your help. This is my first IH Cub. |
I use the bolt!!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,But,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Just to bend the steel until the clearance is gone!!
After bending, put the original pin back in. Most of the slop of a CC steering system will be found in the pinion pin inside the steering box. Be sure to reshape that pin. |
