Putting a Kubota D600 in my 782

I am in the planning stages of my repower. I have a Jacobson reel king with a D600. I was looking at different pics of the diesels on here. I assume they are all clockwise rotation? I seen a 1772 with the radiator near the dash and a 782D with the radiator near the grill. I assume they just have a different fan (either a puller or a pusher). My question is on a 782D the fan is where the PTO should be so is the PTO on the other end.

In the Jacobson the fan is on the front of the engine and the hydro pump is on the other end after the flywheel. Which means when I put it in my 782 the front of the engine will be facing the dash like the 1772. Any pictures or comments would help!

Like this.

Superduty5.9 the PTO actually sits in between the fan and the motor. I believe they only did that on the clyclops tractors. I've heard that configuration has overheating issues.

My fan is at the front of the engine and I could mount my PTO at the rear of the engine, so my setup would have to be like the 1772 to make it work.

Can you post just one pic of your actual D600. On the 782D the radiator, fan and electric PTO are all at the front of the tractor.

But the accessories (water pump, alternator) are on the front of the engine, which in the 782d, and 1782 sit facing the rear of the tractor. It is just the fan and rad that changed positions.

Okay, so this shot is the actual D600 being transplanted?

Yes, it is. So with my setup the fan and radiator will go against the dash. Is there a Cub specific fan adapter to put it on the end of the PTO? Does anybody have any pics of the front like a 782D? Thanks everybody for the help. I need to get it straight in my head so I can proceed!:bigthink:

Just to clarify things, on the 782D the radiator is on the front of the tractor. The 1772 diesel also has the radiator at the front of the tractor. The pics of the tractor you're showing must be a 1782. The next style after the 1772 moved the rad to the rear by the dash. So the 782D, 882, 1512, 1572, and 1772 rads were front mounted. I don't currently have any good pics of the front of my 782. Hopefully someone else will post 'em or else I can grab some for ya. Could get some of the 1772 as well if needed.

The flywheel end will have to go towards the front of the 782. Your hydro will need to drive from what would be the front of the engine. Cub had an adapter that bolted to the flywheel for the PTO and it has a pulley to run the fan in the diesel powered tractors. Cub also had an adapter that bolts to the front of the crank shaft pulley to attach the drive shaft for the hydro. I'm sure some of the guys can post pics of diesel cubs for you.
