Tiller my 129

I bought my first CC, a 129, less than a month ago and have acquired a 109 (blown engine, piston does not move), a 1650 (drive shaft was cut to get it in neutral) and a 1200 disassembled and missing the clutch/drive shaft.

I REALLY want a tiller and 4SPEED has a 2A he is willing to sell me. However, what do I need to get this on my 129? I can steal the hyrdo lift/pump of the 1650 (I assume). My mule drive runs a 44U deck on the 129. I have two other mule drives but I am not sure what deck went with them. I think one mule drive was with a 44A deck that went with the 1650 (took the 50" deck he had instead).

So I know I will need a long belt. What else anyone?

Depends if he has the 5/8 pulley on the gear box you'll have to change that out. You'll need a new long belt and everthing else will bolt right up. Does your 129 have spring assist or hydraulic lift? I perfer hydraulic lift myself.

I have a hydro lift on a 1650 I will move to the 129. Have to take the pump with it, I assume it bolts right up. Looking for a spring assist but they seem pricey compared to buying a 1650 for $300, that might run (haven't had time to work on it) and getting the hydro pump and lift and all the other parts with it! I will have to check my other cubs to see if they have spring assist!

Also, just got off the phone with 4SPEED and he says it is a model 2A that was purchased with his 682 toward the end of IH's production. It is just like his model 1 tiller that he recently restored and thinks they just changed the model numbers for marketing or branding purposes.

Well I am picking up Saturday and hopefully will be tilling by end of day Saturday or Sunday!

Hydro lines from the pump to lift valve are different. Also a couple pieces for the rockshaft are different.

Well then I better get that 1650 running! Thanks for the info!

Well the 1650's engine seems locked up. The starter works when I took it off and tested it. The magnetic switch just clicked with the starter on. The drive shaft was removed and I cannot turn the engine by hand. My 1200's engine only rotates about 1/4 turn either way before I hear it hit something. Guess I need to try more before I buy.

So I committed to an 882 today! Nice diesel tractor for cheap and close by! It has hydro on the front and for the deck. I raised and lowered the deck nicely, but no lift on the rear! So knowing I have a 1650 with lift, I wonder if that will bolt on the 882. I can't see it working though because the gas tank appears to be in the way.

I am striking out on tilling this weekend! Need to sell off the 1200 and 1650 and get a lift or something for the 882. Yellow Fever has bitten me and I need to slow down.

Joe

Joe I wouldn't trust a tiller on that Alum. rear end. Isn't the gas tank over the rear end on the 882.:bigthink:

Good score just not sure if it will work or if you'll have to change things up and use a plow, disc set up like DWayne aka DX3 uses.:TwoCents:
