782 has no spark
The other day I was running the 782 with no problems. Shut it down and later returned put it away and it would not start. I did the old stick a screw driver in the plug wire test and it had no spark. Checked the points and still had no spark. I cleaned and readjusted them and still have no spark. Would it be the condensor now? Or could it be a possible safety switch sticking or something. I don't understand the sudden loss of spark. I have a meter but couldn't tell you how to use it. It was a gift !!! :bash2:

First thing we need to know is what motor it has in it. A lot of 782 have replacement motors in them.

It needs +12V to the coil, other coil wire goes to points that make/break the ground.
use the meter to check that. if you don't have 12V to coil, check safety switches/Ign sw, for power. there is a wiring diagram here IIRR, might have to do a search. |
