44C deck on 1450
Hey guys
Maybe a question already covered somewhere but I cannot seem for the life of me to be able to find an answer. A guy in my area has a 44c deck for sale and I was wondering if it would work on my 1450? If so, what changes would I need to make etc. Thanks again! |
A 44C deck has a 5/8 pulley on it, where the 1450 would have a 1/2" pulley on it. As far as the mule drive, I think the 44C deck will work with the same mule drive that a 44A would. The mule drives will have different size pullies also. Do note that the mule drives for the C decks as used on the X82 series had the front lift forks placed closer together, whereas the older style decks had the forks placed a further apart. These are both wide frame mule drives, though.

You really need a 44/50A mule drive and carriage...believe it or not, the "C" ones are slightly different because the engine on the 82 series is a bit further forward. The belt alignment might be kind of screwy without the right parts.

I had read on your website that the PTO alignment on the x82 series was slightly different - never thought about that affecting the mule drive.

So it sounds like it would not be worth it to try and use a 44c deck, just try and find a 44a then...damn, just when I thought I found a good deal :bash2: thanks

If the moneys right you could buy it and trade someone for the 44a. Just a thought.

The belt had to be a different length, I just took the assembly to a rubber shop, they even helped me size the correct belt. The greatest advantage was the tip speed increase as the 1/2" belt dropped down into that 5/8" pulley!! I ran it for many years. I just picked up a 44C deck this weekend!! I don't know what it will go on yet, maybe my soon to be 1200!!?? :bigthink: |
