K341 in place of a K241?

I've got a chance to get a K341 (14hp) for a pretty good price. I have a K241(10hp) in my '62 Original and I was just thinking........

It is out of a 149, so it is a cub engine. It has the carb, hub and clutch assy. I was thinking that I could rebuild that engine while driving around on the other. If it would work. And hey, having a few extra horses never hurt, right? :biggrin2:

Are the engine dimensions the same? Is the K341 taller/wider? He says it came out of a 149 but, he ALSO says that it is a K341, which SHOULD be a 16hp engine. I guess 14hp engines should be a K321? Any differences if it's a K341 or K321?

thanks for any info.

I'm not sure if Ill help you or make it as clear as mud.

Your going to put the 14 or 16 what ever he has on the CCO? You won't have a problem with the width of it BUT they have deep sump oil pans where the 7, 8, and 10 are shallow or flat oil pans. So there's one problem.

Now I don't know about the height, but the fuel tank may get in the way. I know a guy that put a command in a CCO and it plowed a 2 bottom real nice till it snapped something in the trans.

If it were me and my CCO was a 62 and had a 3 or 4 digit number, Id put it back stock. I don't mess with the CCO's but I think I read some where that the clutch parts are N/A, but I'm sure someone is making them.

Thanks Vince. It's not a low numbered O but I like it and don't want to cut it up to make anything fit. The deep sump pan is a deal changer. He also has a 16 V-twin that needs bearings. At one time, I thought about doing that swap (Happyhab did the swap on his O and it looks good) but I've really gotten to like the single-slug sound of my O.

thanks for the info.
