Cub Cadet 1020 engine identifiers
I just got a Cub Cadet 1020 with a 10 HP Briggs and Stratton engine. The whole unit is in worse shape than the seller said it was. Now I am trying to price some parts to see if it is worth fixing.
I am trying to locate the identifying numbers on the engine and can't seem to see any. Where should I be looking? I shot off an email to one of the forum sponsors as I will need at least a cylinder head, muffler and a 10 blade hydro fan. Any other ideas about where to get parts will be appreciated. Should have not been so trusting on this deal.....:bash: |
The 1020 rolled out of the Factory with a B & S Engine as follows:
Model: 256707 Spec: 0105-01 |
Amazing, how do you know all this good stuff? Thanks a lot for the information. :Thanks:

How about this one....It appears the threads in the head which hold the spark plug are stripped out to the point the plug will not tighten. Is there an "good" way to fix this without buying a different head?
So far, this seems to be the major issue, but the day is young. Any ideas? :bigthink: |
I had a similar problem with one of my Kohlers. I took the head to a machine shop and they installed a heli-coil. Been good now for 5+ yrs now.

Thanks. I spoke with a mini engine repair shop and they said they would put in a helicoil which should take care of it. I tried to start the thing tonight, hoping the plug was in good enough to see if the engine would fire. It fired once and blew the plug across the shop.
I counted that progress because I was chasing electrical issues until I could get power to the starter. One step at a time.............. I appreciate your words of wisdom. |
Any idea where I could get a wiring diagram for this 1020?

There are two (2) different wiring diagrams for the 1020 depending on the Serial Number range.
What is your chassis serial number..?? |
