Plug breather
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys,
Working on the 169. Previous owner somewhere along the way had removed the plug breather and installed a piece of copper tube and rubber hose that was routed up along side the battery. I am going to install a lift on this while i have it apart. And that copper tube sticking up has to go. I was just on the parts lookup and Cub Cadet says that the plug breather is currently unavailable. Any one got an idea what could be used as a substitute. Thanks for any ideas. Attachment 1087 |
If you can post a picture of what the OEM looks like, or when I get time to check mine I could probably fix one for you if you have trouble finding one. It may be a common fitting size that you could find easy at a parts store, I'm not familiar with that part, however the one you have does not look to bad (you could touch it up some) I bet it also keeps oil, and gunk off the rear.
If you wanted to keep it, you might get a 90* elbow, and a small piece of copper tubing to route it closer to the housings. |
Hey clint,
I dont really know what the original looks like. It fits flush with the top of the rear housing. I didnt know you could even remove these things. But the lift just barely clears the top of the rear. I dont see how anything could be sticking out the top and clear the lift when its installed. |
I will take a look at mine, if it's just a push in plud I could turn one from aluminum that would be very easy, if it were more involved it might be better to look at finding one.

Got the 169 back together today. The plug breather arrived the other day from RF Houtz along with the lift that i got on e-bay. Did the trunion repairs while i was in there. Did a little painting also.
