149 Hydro Whine

Hey everybody. I have a question about my 149. Every once in a while when I put her on low throttle or when I shut her down I can hear something that sounds like a hydraulic whine. I have changed the Hydro fluid and filter and I know the level is good. The two pressure relief buttons on the unit are free and come back up when I depress them. Other than that she goes forward and reverse great as long as throttle speed is high enough for what I'm doing. Any ideas? it just sounds bad when she is shutting down and I don't want anybody to hear it!! Thanks Mark

Is it possible that your hydro is just slightly left in the forward/reverse position at low idle or shutdown? I have a 109 that will do this. If my lever is not dead on in neutral, it will whine and make all sorts of noises, especially when I shut it down. It works great, but it has to be in dead on neutral for no noises to come about.

Maybe try moving the lever slightly to the forward/reverse position to see if it stops. Most of the time the indicator on the dash for "N" is usually not quite neutral. You may just be leaving it slightly in one position or another. Just my .02

I've had a few that were just simply noisey also. Seems to be the nature of the beast on a few of these good ole cubs. They like to growl to keep deere's away, :biggrin2:

Ok then, I guess mine must be a load one too. I did try to move the lever slightly forward and backward to see if it stopped and it didnt help. I'm just glad to hear that it is a normal thing and nothing that should cause a problem. Thank Again! Mark

I would be worried if my hydro's didn't whine...
