My 1450 " Cadet hydro speed control" issue

My 1450 exhibits the symptoms of slowing and speeding up without me moving the control. I briefly read the thread "Cadet 123 hydro speed control". My cam plate and the pin that rides in the slot are worn so I believe this is the problem. From what I have seen looking at various part sources it appears that new parts are available to remedy this problem. Should I be looking at replacing these parts or welding up the worn areas? Maybe I'm missing the context of the original thread.:Help:

I did my 123 and 147 by welding the corners and filing them back to original shape, taking care as your welding. I wrapped a wet towel down around the bottom so not to get the case hot.
Bought new springs and end caps. Works like a new machine.

Steve changing your hy-tran and filter will help also.

Thanks for the response; I'll be looking at this closer this weekend. When I was looking at this last night I was sure the problem was the groove on item 6 in the drawing that by being worn was allowing the linkage to move fore and aft thus causing the tractor speed to slow or increase. When I fix the trunion slot should I also look at replacing/repairing the cam plate?:bigthink:

If you can grab us some pics of the items as you are working on them, we can determine if it is bad enough to warrant a new one. Usually the trunion fix will take care of about 95% of your problems.
