Lift problem on 1541

I have a problem with my deck lift. When I raise the deck it would come up and then slam back down to the ground. I removed the tunnel cover and I could see the hydraulic cylinder fully extending and retracting but the rockshaft slipping. It looks like it should have a roll pin connecting the lift bracket(#3) to the rockshaft(#2) so I drilled a 1/4" hole and put a bolt through it.
When I started the tractor the lift would raise nice and high and lower the way it should. Then I adjusted my Cam for the proper hight on my deck and retested. The bolt broke the first time I lowered it. The cylinder has down pressure causing this. When using the cam, do you have to stop when it hits the cam or should there be enough play in it so that it won't break?
Thanks.

3 floats on 2...so you just locked out the float function, and that's why the hydraulic cylinder sheared the bolt off. You probably have a bad roll pin elsewhere in the rockshaft.

Thanks Matt. I will look into this tonight. If i remember there are two pins in part #1 securing it to part #2. I could see part #3 moving but part #2 wasn't. How does part #3 grip part #2 to raise part #1? Thanks.

It doesn't...it butts up against part number 1 when the cylinder extends. This allows the lift to 'float' up when it's all the way down.

#3 should spin freely on #2 therefore when you lower the lift, #2 will hit the cam stop and actually stop, while #3 can continue to move with the cylinder if you're still lowering with the lift handle. you should have two rolls pins connecting #1 to #2

Thanks guys. I just checked it again and now I see how it works. I don't know what was happening but its working normal now.
