S/G Parts link
Hey guys. Im in need of some links that could put me to a website for a Starter Generator rebuild kit. I need almost everything. Field Coils, brushes and assymbley the whole shishkababe. Thanks for lookin:beer2:

Yep...
That's where I got my bearing and brushes. They fit great and the brushes were made in the USA to boot.
Field coils... now THERE you're going to have a problem. I suspect if you need those, you're going to be forced to buy NOS or salvage them from a used unit. I just finished repairing my S/G on my O (documented in another thread) John |
I took my s/g to the local shop and they ordered brand new field coils for it.

When I had a little wiring problem I took my S/G to the shop and they rewound the portion that was toasted.:bash2:\

I guess since they made these things for years it makes sense they'd still have supplies... good tips!

Is that Ebay kit all that is usually needed? My S/G works, but seems to crank a little too slow.

If it starts and charges, that's probably all you would need. The armature and field coils either work or don't, in my experience. If the brushes are shot and commutator scored and dirty, it may not crank over very well.
