New here, hello and a couple questions please

Hello guys,
I picked up a very clean 1862 with a kohler magnum 18 a few days ago.
425 hours on it. Looking to mow with it and take care of it. (also have a beautiful 1450 in the garage)
The governor will not adjust to function properly....I have tried per the kohler manual. Not sure if it is missing a spring, or the governor internals are bad.
Could someone post a picture of the 18 magnum governor linkage set up?

Also if it is the governor internals that are bad.....how horrible is it to replace?

Thanks
Ted

It's pretty horrible. The engine has to come completely apart. The gov is the first thing to go back in during reassembly.

can you be more specific. it may be something more simple than a governor gear

when I give the engine throttle, it will continue to rev up and up higher....too high.
When mowing, it bogs down and will not maintain RPM, I have to literally keep my hand on the throttle and constantly give it more or less to maintain RPM......unless I am on level groung and not mowing.

My 782 did this once, and it was because the throttle cable was horribly out of adjustment. I'd try that first. I can't remember off the top of my head which was I had to move the cable...I don't have the tractor in front of me, either.

Also, I did disconnect the throttle cable completely and ran the engine.
When I give it more throttle, it does not try to push back against my finger to reduce RPMS
