109 refurbishment

Well I've been lurking(and learning) here for a while, thought it was time to contribute a little. This is a first refurb of a cub for me so I'll most likely be stumbling thru it. I am sure the good folks here Will keep me on the straight and narrow.:Choke:
Anyhow here is what I started with:

A couple of things needing attention I noticed right away:

The VR was looking rather nasty so a new one was purchased, and below the PTO turnbuckle was stripped on one end(That will receive attn. later)

More to follow....

P.S. The timestamp on my camera is wrong and I need a teen to set it for me! LOL

Next came the fenders:

The battery box was in bad shape from what looks to have been a leaky battery.

It got a new bottom welded in:

I've also done a little sanding on it:

Next I split the tractor:

Ran into another needed repair:

The left side front mounting bracket was broke, but the right side was ok.

I believe I have located another bracket from one of the fine members here.
I have several parts in my electrolysis tank now being derusted:

And that's where I am on it as of today, more later....

Excellent start. You had a good cub to start with. That helps a lot. I have got to read on the electrolysis thing and get one set up, so I can get some of the model 73 tins and stuff cleaned up for priming and painting.

Since I set up my Electrolysis tank I have wondered why in the heck I waited so long to do it!:bash: It is a sooooo much easier way to prep your parts than sanding or sandblasting! I just wish I had a tank big enough to dip fenders and hoods in.
