I need jump started..

My 149 project is nearly a year old. I got a different block as the old one was toast, had it bored, had the crank bored, got some new parts, and have it back together, with the exception of putting the head on and torquing it down.

Getting that done and mounting the flywheel, carb and other parts, a good day should get it back together.

Now the shop is cold and everyday its a new excuse seems like.

I guess what I need is a threat from several Cadet users I will get a "caning" from them if I don't get off the couch.

I see these nice pictures of a 149 at work and I guess sooner or later it will happen.

One thing that happened during the disassembly, the dipstick tube came apart. The piece that is bolted to the crank case and the tube that slips in it that hold the dipstick came apart. It appeared to have been a bit bent up in the past. I'm not sure I can make it work.

That's the story, or confession, whatever is appropriate.

You better get to work or I'll come over there and replace that Cub with an MTD!

A friend with a torch or wire welder can tack it together in seconds.... Even *I*, who is the worst welder in the planet, could do that :-)

PS: Alternately, someone could sell you a replacement!

I'll do one better, I'll send Duke up there and swap it with a broke down Scott's mower. :biggrin2:

The Scott's is great on gas! The broken rear axle might have something to do with that!:biggrin2:

As of now, you have 42 people that have viewed this page. They are waiting to see if you finish it or not. Remember, there will be more viewers and they all will be watching. Pressure is on and we are watching

I feel the eyes watching

I can see the eyes peering at me and the pressure is on. That is what I needed.

I will get it done asap. Got to borrow a torque wrench then get a picture of what bolt/stud goes where. I think a couple of them are studs if I remember correctly and have a nut on them.

I have a manual downloaded, so I will refer to that.

Thanks for the prodding a little good natured fun never hurts anything.

Well, just to get you in the shop :WWP: and I'll tell you, the guys on here can start getting pretty impatient if you don't feed them pics on a regular basis. Then once your in the shop just pick up a wrench and get to work, and before you know it.............:Cub6:

My MTD is pretty good on gas, but it's the oil mileage that's beginning to be a problem.

On the other hand, it's like driving an insect fogger and mower at the same time.
