Mine arnt anything great body wise thanks to MN salt but I have a 74 200 pickup. It has aa 345 V8, auto tranny, 8.5 boss Vplow and dump flatbed. And I have 77 scout travler diesel. The diesel is factory and is a 90 HP nissan inline 6. Even tho its kind of a pooch, its still really run to drive. Collecting ih trucks is just of bad of an addiction as collecting cubs haha. Pics arnt the best.

Can't show you any pictures, but my first truck I ever drove was my grandad's 1969 IH pickup. Don't remember the number, but it was a 3/4 ton, V8 with a standard four speed. No radio, and not much of a heater. Rubber floor mats, we would pull it up to the milk house and hose out the inside when it got real dirty.
It was a two wheel drive with bias 16" tires, and I remember the winter it wouldn't go anywhere without the tire chains, but I was on top of the world when I could drive it around the driveway. I was only 10 years old. |
when I turned 16 in '63 dad bought a '47 Internaiional p/u. The thing was great and really built. The body was very good. When the carb went, we gave it away and got a '56 ford p/u. The int was better for haulin but the Ford was a real screamer. I have whats left of an old Scout down in the woods where it died, not a lot left of that ol bugger. I'd give alot for that ol International back. My neighbor had a International p/u which he restored, dont know if he still has it. he put a big engine in it and tricked it out a bit. Havent seen but 1 Scout on the road in many years, its a local hot rod.

I ran to the hardware store the other day, and a guy had a Scout in the parking lot. It was rough, but not bad.
What bothered me was the fact we just had an inch of snow and there was salty slush on the roads. They rust just from sweating on them!!! I wish he had parked it for the winter. Another dude brought one from CA about 5 years ago. You'd never know it now. He didn't realize what salt would do to a car, so he drove it year round. |
Also: the book "TRUCK"
There is a book out there called Truck. It's about a guy, and his restoration of a 50's IH pickup.
That is a small part of the story, but it is a good book overall. |
