Point saver
Hi did you buy the points saver yet? John

on a 982 there are no Points to save.... correct me if I'm wrong but the onans use a electronic trigger for the ignition, making timing issues nonexistant. If you think the coil is going, I would check the trigger module first. I've heard of the coil being specific to that engine because of the trigger, but I dont know for sure. Do some digging!

Well 5 minutes later I;m Back! looked at the other threads in this area, and found out that the stock Onans used points and coil. I guess thats the BG series? I have the performer series in my 982, which is what replaced the BG series. I guess thats one of the things they changed.
From what I read, the pointsaver and dual coil is a great upgrade for an Onan. |
Well NO I personally CANNOT attest to using the point saver on a 982, but I bought one this past summer to put on my # 109 when I get it back together. I talked to 2 people who use the point saver on their cubbies & they LOVE'em. Don't remember the units they had but I think one of them was the 16hp.? After talking to them they made up my mind for me. I want things to run smoooooooooth, I just hate little problems, they frustrate me to NO END. Big problems I can't tell you what they do to my self worth on this family oriented site.
Besides, that Bosch coil looks COOL. Nik, http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/b...pse93b7f8c.jpg |
