What type of Trans fluid should be used? is there a filter in the transmission?

I would use Hy Tran. There is no filter for the transmission. Nice 1000!

A IH Cub Cadet 1000 is a garden tractor.....not a lawn tractor. Hopefully the mods will move this topic to the right area.

There is no filter in a manual tranmission Cub Cadet. There is a technical section on this site that can help with the oil selection and keeping your Cub running.
