Hey everyone, I am restoring a cub 70 and my Starter Gen. needs rebuilt. How hard is it to do?:bigthink:

It should be a fairly easy rebuild---of course that depends on the previous condition of the item. Be sure to gently take it apart and take a pictures as you. Clean the pads inside, some people use naptha to clean the carbon dust off. Do a visual inspection of all parts. If you just need new brushes, then just unscrew the old ones and put new ones in their place. I put just a drop or two of oil on the bearings at the ends and put it back together. You should notice a nice change in your starting!

Best way is find a starter repair shop in your area there are usually a few in a city with trucking and have them go through it with a , growler , true the commentator ,amp clamp etc I had mine done for $ 45 with a new rear bearing and brushes

I took my s/g apart to replace the studs, and the brushes were almost gone and the bearings tuned really hard, so I just took it to a shop and they replaced the bearings, turned the commuter and undercut the mica, brushes, and both feild coils for $50. When I got there ther put it back together in front of me to show me everything was new.
