cub cadet 122 wont move...?
 

hey everybody new to the site i picked up a 122 with a creeper and hydro lift awhile back that the clutch is shot on the shifter was stuck in gear and while trying to yank it out i snapped off the shifter handle. I ordered another and put it on this morning and now all the sudden it wont move i had it driving around my lawn before i changed the shifter and now it acts like the creeper wont engage in high or low range? im stumped, it will go into all gears just fine but the creeper just seems to slide back and forth, is there something inside i did wrong? i just pulled the old shifter out and put the new one in. hopefully someone can give me a hand figuring this out, thanks!:bash2:

Check your drive shaft and make sure the spriol pins haven broke on you. Which handle were you pulling on? The creeper or gear shifter?

shifter gear, like i said it drove around fine before i changed the shifter is there something internal the creeper connects to that i missed? cause the creeper gear just kinda slides forward and back it feels like it isnt hooked up to anything

The creeper doe have a neutral position, but, you probably "lost" one of those roll pins.

No, it doesn't. If there's any space between high and low, it's not to be used for neutral.

Certain models even have "N" on the decal. Don't ask me to dig, ain't gonna.

Doesn't matter if you should or not, it can be done.

Just to clarify, are you talking about the creeper shifter, or the transmission shifter? If the latter, it will not change how the creeper works.

If the creeper shift fork is worn, you may have a hard time getting it all the way into either high or low, and it'll pop out of gear when you let out the clutch. If the detent on the right side of the creeper handle is gone or bent, it won't stay engaged, either. And if the creeper handle is not likely all the way in gear unless the handle is at the end of the slot. They are also a bit hard to get to engage at times...you may need to hold pressure on the creeper handle and SLOWLY release the clutch a bit to get the splines to line up so it goes in gear.

The Cub Cadet "creeper drive unit" is a 2-speed selective high/low gearbox for the NF and WF and QL models. I can't say for certain on 82 series. Never heard of a neutral in a creeper drive for the cubs. I believe my old Crapsman had a neutral tho in the hi/lo drive.

Yea it ain't supposed to, but some of these tractors are kind of old and are expected to earn their living, not be babied with constant repairs.

Mine are included. The only creeper I have now would have to be held to stay in gear. It is parked.

There is no neutral on a creeper.Now that it is getting cold....Have you serviced the trans fluid at all? May be water in the tranny.Freezes and you ain't going anywhere.
