Cub found by accident round #2
Let me start off by saying these Cub forums and "deer" hunting is starting to hurt my pocket!:biggrin2:
Ok, quick story about this find. I was once again deer hunting like I was when I found the 169. I came out of the woods near my home when I run into a old high school friend that I haven't seen in 15 plus years. We start talking about the hunting and he invites me to hunt an area he has found. The area is owned by a 90 plus year lady whos husband passed about 8 years ago. Anyways, I meet my friend and we hunt this area. No luck with the deer that day, BUT I come to find this lady has a barn full of old farm equipment and antiques. My friend tells me that (the family) wants to clean out this old bank barn that is full of just about everything. So this long story short, I talk to the son a few days later and he lets me in the barn. Tractors, hay rakes, balers, wagons, etc are in here. In the very corner behind about 20 things I spy a small yellowish color tractor. I climb under and around to find this:
A half decent looking Cub Original. So I start to look it over and I find the serial #. 4 digit very low- 17xx.
I haven't officially "bought" it yet as I need to figure out a price and how I will get this thing out as I mentioned its buried in the barn.
Not real familiar with the O's and don't know what to offer her. Son said a few bucks would buy it. Also, the little old lady tells me her husband worked at an IH dealer and bought this O brand new in 1961.
Pictures to come once I get it out of the barn.
BTW- Wife is no longer letting me "deer" hunt:biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:
