Mowing Deck Blade Question
Hello,
Quick Question. Jumped on my re-assembled 582 after a clutch replacement (thanks Matt for your patient help) and have the following problem. 1) It is simply not cutting well. I tried to sharpen the blades, but the middle one is beaten up quite a bit and ... well, did I mention that it isn't cutting well?!? Does anyone have some good blade reccomendations for the 44" deck. As a note, the motor doesn't seem to have a rev limiter so I inserted a screw in the line to keep the gas from going too far up when others are using it. It stops about half way up. I am not sure what the RPM's are, but it is as fast as you would want to mow in third gear. By the way, the cut problem is in second gear also. Blade speed? |
Do a google search for "gator blades" to find the cheapest place to get them. That's the best thing we've found so far.
The engine is governed. It sounds like the governor on your engine needs adjusting. Unfortunately, it's a pain on these twin Briggs engines because of the stupid carb and governor linkage that it has. Sometimes I wonder if all the Briggs engineers got drunk before they designed that part of the engine...:beer2: |
It is a distinct possibility.
Any good info or diagram available on the governor? |
