16 hp out of a 1650
 

Hello guys,
How difficult would it be to convert a 16 horse kohler to a starter generator "starting" system?? Is there a 16 horse that was made with the older starter generator/electrical??

Would it be easier to convert the tractor to the 16 horse electrical system??

I have a 123 I will one day put a 16 horse possibly a 14 horse Kohler in and am looking into the info.
I'll take recommendations for other than stock engines to put in. I'm aware Ill have to modify the frame, so I bought another to modify and will store away the original
The tractor will be used for plowing, cultivating, etc. I'm gonna try to keep away from the PTO in the front, maybe.

My 149 and 169 are both starter generator. You would have to add a regulator and unhook the regulator rectifier. There would be a lot of wire changeing. Then you would have to get the pulley for the crank to hook the belt from the starter generator up. Let me know if you need some pictures.

I was going to take pictures of the crank pulley and starter gen. But then i looked at your avitar and yours is set up the same isnt it?

Eather way let me know what you want pictures of and i will get you some.

Does your 169 have a 16 horse?? if so,IF its diffrent than a 1650 setup id like to see pics

Im just unfarmiliar of the diffrent style Kohlers out there 16 horse in particular!

Im stuck on putting a slightly modified 16 horse with a stack and single cylinder in the very first 123 I got!!

The 169 came with a 16 horse K341 and both the 149 and 147 came with 14 horse K321's and they all had starter generators and points ignitions, the same as your 123.

If you change the K341's fly wheel to that of a K301 you can leave the frame alone. This would be a good time to pull the K 341's stator. You can use your K 301's fly wheel cover for proper location of the coil. You can also use the other stuff from your 12 hp.. Starter pulley/clutch basket, starter generator, voltage regulator, wiring.

So if you are willing to use what you have on your 12 hp. (K301) for the 16hp.(K341) I don't think you will have to buy anything except the 16hp. You will need to relocate the exhaust if you are not using a stack. I hope this helps.
