Charging question
My 100 was running fine when i had it at the fair and pulled with it, The other day i used it to cut the grass and i noticed it sounded like the engine was under a heavy load and didnt sound like it usually does. So i put it back in the garage and checked the oil and all the turning stuff like the clutch and PTO and s/g to make sure a bushing didnt seize its all free, that was saturday. Yesterday i went to start it and when i pushed the button the engine turned a little and stopped so i put a jump pack on it and it started right up but when you give it throttle it sounds like its under a load. I just put a new regulator on it and all the wiring is new and its been fine so far the only thing i have changed is i put a ammeter on it and wired it like the diagram says in the tech section. When its idling and the lights are on there pulsing and they never did that before. Thanks in advance for any help!

I would be looking at your S/G. Sounds like there is some strange things going on with it.

Does the S/G turn hard by hand?
|
The s/g turns freely by hand with the belt off

I doubt it is the generator putting a load on it as the motor has the power to burn the belt or generator easily I just fried my generator because the rear bearing had a cap over the lube hole and wasn't letting oil in the only thing I noticed was the post melting does the case get abnormaly hot ? drive train all lubed up? good air flow out over the cooling fins ? ( muddaubers - mice in the blower) maybe you have a carb jet partially clogged hole in muffler ?

I think ive narrowed it down to the regulator, the running issue was my kids pulling on the choke cable to hard and getting it out of adjustment and the choke was 1/4 closed( there 2 and 3 ). I grounded the field terminal on the s/g and it drags the engine down and the lights get real bright so the s/g is working so that only leaves the regulator because all the wiring is new
