1650 hydro leak
I'm in the process of refurbishing a 1650, and have found a hydro fluid leak. At first I thought it was from the external tube from the bottom of the hydro unit to just below the fluid filter. After tightening up the fittings, the leak persisted. It appears to be coming from the front of the unit, just behind the filter. Maybe where the brake shaft is located.
It's not a big leak, but after a week or so sitting there, it's enough that you want to get a paper towel and wipe it up. I had the inspection cover off the top of the hydro unit to take a peak inside, and added fluid at that time. It seemed to leak a little more with the additional juice, and then slowed down again. Could it be that it's over filled? What's involved with changing the seals if that's the problem. I'm considering just living with it, but since the tractor is torn down to the frame right now, this might be the chance to fix it right.
By the way, I've found the information on this forum invaluable during this project. I've already modified my engine cradle, rebuilt the steering box, and repaired the worn speed control trunion. I can see light at the end of the tunnel, and will have a great machine when I'm finished.
