Well, been a long day but it's now over. I went down to the Buffalo area (300 miles from my house) to look at a 782 and pick up some super parts from a forum member - riesedesperado6170. He's the guy who custom built the dump trailer and hydraulic plow on a 73 that was posted a while ago. I saw it in action - and it's AWESOME! Really nice work, and really nice guy to deal with. If you need Cub parts ask him he has alot of stuff at really reasonable prices.
The 782 was a Craigslist find that had been sitting for a while. Original owner/family, back when they were farming they bought an articulated IH tractor and the dealer threw the 782 in as a 'freebie' - nice freebie eh?
Funny thing is after reading up on the different engines for the 782, this one beat the odds. Not only is it a series 1, the guy had the most hilly property I have ever seen, no joke, if you know the area around Attica you know what I mean. Plus it has been used ALOT for the last 25 years, so based on that surprising it's still running?? Hopefully I can keep it running and not blow anything up. Shows the some wear and tear but not abused, and no retarded PO modifications; just needs a bit of a tune up. Oils, filters, transmission slop, etc. Some steering issues to be resolved. I got the 782 do some of the smaller mowing jobs around my property which are currently done with a push mower, and to blow the pond off in winter, and general pulling duties around the farm.
With the 782 deal I got the blower (has a smaller pully installed), 44C deck, extra spindles, 4 sets of blades, extra mule drive, wheel weights and some other odds and ends.
For my super I got a pump with a really good spindle, side covers, grille, headlight surround, replacement hard hydraulic line, driveshaft with fan, and some odds and ends.
Heres a quick pic of the 782 and the assorted goods in the trailer. I'll post up some more tomorrow when I can take a closer look at things.
