147 regulator question

Picked up new voltage regulator at my local auto parts store yesterday, but it seems a little differant than the one I removed.
Can someone tell me if this will work or not? And what the heck is the "L" on the new one? I got it at a good price with my discount there. But if it's not going to work, it's of no use to me. Thanks

Try doing a search here, I think this has been discussed something like 3 or 4 times in the past month or so.

There is more to cross referencing V/R than terminal identification.

What is the make and part number of the new V/R...???

Roland, it's a carquest, part # 27-1676. I have not tryed it yet, but I hooked everything up to the wiring diagram in the service manual. And read through some past post on the subject, leaving the "L" empty.
Sure appreciate you looking it up for me, thank you.

Yes the "L" is just a direct connect to Bat Terminal . L stands for load.
It was used on a lot of the older cubs to put power to the key switch. ( the on or off type.) You just leave it empty.

CarQuest does not provide a lot of information on their products. I did find, that the V/R you purchased is a "Universal Fits-all". The best you can do, is wire it terminal for terminal and hope the specifications are in the "ball park".

Put it on terminal for terminal and everything seems ok, hope it'll be fine.
Thanks for the help
