what was I SUPPOSED to do?
Ok, you guys know the story by now. It's a small room, the coffee pot is already half empty, folks are in small groups talking about,,,,you know what. I stand up,,,,,my voice quivering with emotion,,,,,,,my name is Tom, and I have problem! Any way, what would you do, when the gregslist add started with, "last chance" 107, :bigthink: bad motor, no deck but does have a snow blower, and tiller. If not sold by Wed will ,,,,,,,,choke,,,, gasp,,,,,,,SCRAP! What I bought was a a 107, with a no compression, (and I mean none) K241, a very nice 1A tiller and a QA36A blower. Oh and I forgot to mention, it has a 3 point, right angle gear box, wheel weights, tire chains, Spring assist and head lights.:biggrin2:

You did the right thing. That horrid scraper! Nice save on what can be a Great Cub, with a little TLC.

Definatley not the wrong thing to do! Ive been there before but with 2 104's that were just dropped off at the scrap yard:/ What some people do to these wondeful machines, both had great engines too. So i think i share your problem.lol

I wonder how many Cubs are slipping through the network of enthusiasts and actually being crushed for mere scrap. Reminds me a little of those photos you see of F4U Corsairs being pushed over the sides of carriers or piles, literally piles of P38's being crushed by dozers and burned. Either of those machines are practically priceless today.

Would've done the same! Make sure compression relief isn't giving you false zero and doesnt just need adjustment, not sure the 104 has it but worth mentioning!! Be great to a have a running machine for scrap price!!

You know your getting bad when you start thinking of ways to sneak them in the yard without your family seeing them. Sometimes they don't understand that you may need a part off of one so you just buy the whole thing and after getting it home you find the parts you need (on your work bench) and you might as well fix up the so called donor you just bought. LOL:biggrin2:

Here's some pics.
Probably should feel guilty to be honest. He was asking $400,,,,,, I got it all for $250.

You did Great! I wish I could find deals like that in SC.
|
I wish when they advertise like this "last chance Going to scrap"They would be sensible and take a better than scrap prices when offered,I've seen it happen several times that someone wants say 300$ for an item saying it's going for scrap refuse a lower offer that is still much better than what the scrap dealer would pay only to junk it in the end anyway!
