Another Michigander says Hello.
Hello all, I just got my very first Cub this last weekend. It is a 1983 CCC made 682. I am looking foward to working on it. About 30 years ago, I worked on my FIL's Cub Cadet Original. I was young and foolish then and proceeded to paint it blue and white. Guess I must have been a Ford fan then. I think it is time to correct my mistake and attempt to make this look like a Cub Cadet again. These are my two projects right now.
My youngest is a sophomore at Northern Michigan University and has left the house to my wife and I. What a change! We enjoy camping, gardening visiting friends and family. I am looking foward to spending some time researching the old articles here to get as much information as I can to help put my Cubs back in good looking and working condition. This looks like it is a great site full of great people! |

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! Is anyone going to the "Red Power Reunion" in Oakley near the end of August? It's put on by the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Assn, Inc.
Diz Jr. I will attempt to upload a couple of pictures. Here we go! The first one is the Original, Serial #4598. (Father-in-laws) The second one is my first cub. I got the short end of the stick on a trade deal. It turns out that the KT17 has a piston that don't wanna move anymore. Luckily the PO runs a small engine shop up north and has offered to put a fresh rebuild on the motor if I pull it out. I'm glad that I ran into a "reasonable" person to deal with. I have read that it is not advisable to rebuild a KT17 Series I but if the PO will put HIS money into a rebuild, I'm not going to argue with him. This will give me more time to locate a Series II or an M18. I fugure that this will give me time to tear down, inspect, clean and become familiar with my Cub. Camarokidz28, I remember, back in my youth in the late 1970's, a friend of mine that had the CB handle CamaroKid from Saginaw that used to go to Tawas every weekend. I was just wondering if you were the same person? Rob |
:Welcome2: Roblynn! Glad to have you! Nice cubs you have there. :beerchug:
