Carb replacement?
 

My new to me 129 has some carb issues, seems to load up past 3/4 throttle. I though I might try adjusting it some, but it turns out it has a walbro on it, would like to replace it with a #26.

SO, my question is what exactly would I need to swap them out, the walbro has a different linkage on it to the governor arm (compared to the #30 on the 149 I have), so I am guessing just the carb and the linkage and I am golden. Does the air cleaner base bolt to both carbs the same or do I need a base for a #26.

The air cleaner is the same; you just need the carb and linkage.

Would you have pics of the carb? I just bought a brand new Walbro at TSC for 160$ I'm happy with it. It is not a fixed jet Walbro.

For $160, you can buy 3 or 4 Carter/Kohler #26 carbs and completely rebuild them.

You won't be as happy with it when you want to rebuild it. The carb kit is something like $30. The Walbro carbs also have a non-replaceable fuel inlet seat and a plastic float. Today's gas wrecks the plastic floats, and when the needle and seat wear out, you're basically SOL.

Mine has the sealed adjustments on it, I haven't heard much good about them, so I would just as soon get a rebuildable 26 and toss on it. They are relatively cheap, cheap to rebuild, and simple in design, much better in my opinion.
Thanks Matt, was thinking that was all I needed, but wanted to make sure....this time I will leave the choke butterflies in place when I toss it in the carb cleaner.

I hate the Walbro's but i could not find a carter i have two that are rebuilt but the fuel screw holes are striped out i asked a round no one had one. I'm happy with it so far.
