102 ignition system help
 

I took the battery out of my newly aquiered 102 so I could stand the tractor on end to install the creaper gear from the bottom side. When I got done and set the tractor down i went to install the battery and accidently crossed the wires and hooked the battery up backwards. The end result is the starter generator will continue to spin on its own until I disconnect the battery or the battery goes dead. The tractor will still crank and run if I turn the ignition switch to the run position and touch the battery cable to the battery post to spin the generator and when the motor fires up I pull the wire off the battery. What did I mess up to cause this ?

I would be looking at the V/R and see if something inside "fried".

Try bypassing your elect system by hooking the battery directly to the starter /gen and see what you have --- then use your nose to try to find the burnt smell
