1810 issues
I am looking at buying an 1810 that a friend has for sale but it has an issue (He bought it not running so knows no more about it than me). It is hard to start. The carb fills up with gas and floods when trying to start it. He pulled the plug and turned the engine over to blow out the gas and then it would start (after reinstalling the plug:biggrin2:) It ran good for a few seconds and then started to cut out. You could hold your hand partialy over the carb to help keep it running. I am assuming it would just be a rebuild on the carb to fix it? It seems pretty obvious to me that it is carb issues but thought I would post to find out if there could be something else going on. The engine sounded great for the short time we had it running.

Chip, sounds to me like a carb rebuild is in order. Is the fuel pump working properly? That's the only other thing that comes to mind when getting too much fuel is the problem. Good luck :)

My 1810 has sorta the same issuse but mine will starting doing it after about a hour and a half of of mowing. Replaced the the needle and seat cleaned really well and replace all the gaskets

It could be a sticking float or a hole in the float. I'd rebuild the carb and put a new float in it and set it properly per the manual.

I would personally find a deep abandoned mine shaft to toss that carb into and go find the early adjustable carb off a kt17 engine. If that doesn't fix it, then it's time to replace the fuel pump.

Thanks, I will be buying it this week. I have one big cub project that I haven't had time to work on so I may as well add another one to the list. It's just way to cheap not to buy. Thanks for the help/advice.
