Well I have been searching for my first tractor and I came upon a cub cadet 100 today. It fired right up and there was no smoke at all. It seemed to shift good. This is my first tractor so I am not sure how exactly they are supposed to shift but is seemed pretty good. The tractor has rear fenders and a mower deck. It has some sludge on the engine and the rear end is that normal? What else should I check for to make sure it is good? Thanks guys I will keep you up to date with my progress.

Sounds nice. The fenders are a plus. It might be worth the price on just what you said. And I'm not asking either. It has a deck. Is it attached? if so does it engage and disengage? Does the front axle turn with the steering wheel without a pause? I'm not looking for answers to these questions. But if you are at the tractor these are some to keep in mind.

I think as many do that the 100 is a beautiful tractor. And they seem to do whatever you ask them to do. If you get it I don't think you'll regret it. If you can spin a wrench you won't ever regret it.

Sounds like a good tractor. The 100 is just cool looking. And like RPalmer and ACecil said they will do about anything you want to do.

As far as the sludge goes. Is it just oil and dirt that has accumulated over the years? or does it look like fresh dripping oil of some kind? If you could get a picture and post it someone would probly be able to help you determin wether its somthing to worry about or not. Just my 2 pennys

I've got a couple Cub Cadets now,... and if ever I part with one of'em, it won't be the 100.

well it is official i onw my first cub cadet. i picked it up yesterday and spent the day driving around my yard. this thing is so awesome. Also on my way home some one had an little utility cart at the end of there driveway with a free sign on it. i need to figure out how to post pictures. I am very excited. thanks for all your input guys

very cool! Some might think its weird, but there are sometimes I get on my 127 and just ride around my 2 acres and have a blast.
