Removing Idler pulley 38" 3 spindle deck
1 Attachment(s)
I have a rough 38" deck for my 70 that I've torn down. The cast iron nose and wings are off, but I haven't gotten all the spindles removed for an R&R yet. The one item giving me trouble is the idler pulley. I took the nut off the top, but the bolt on the underside of the deck just spins in place. There doesn't seem to be an area under the pulley for a nut that I can get a wrench on. Anyone got any info on how to remove the idler pulley? The attachment is the service manual for the deck. It shows the idler pulley in the bottom pic. Any info would be appreciated!

I think a BFH is in order.
Once you remove the nut the pulley should slide in the slot in the mower deck.If it doesn't then the pulley and the bolt are rusted together.Use plenty of pb and let it soak for a few days.If that wont work heat is up with a torch,That should free it up. |
Yes Lube first B?H second. Just took the idler off the deck for the 102 which does have the cast wings.
Hey deck experts what is more valuable a 102 deck with the cast wings or a 42 in deck like for a 127 without the cast wings? I have been stealing parts off of the 102 cast wing deck. But it could be brought back to life too. Regards, Chris |
Thanks! Will be soaking shortly!
