122 Engine Running too Hot... Help Please

After I mowed the lawn yesterday with my 122, I realized the gas in the tank was boiling. It has been suggested that the engine timing is off and I need to check the points. I can't imagine it is normal for a 122 to run this hot. Does the timing solution sound right? If not, I am open to suggestions on how to remedy my engine's temp. Thanks guys!

Ensure air is flowing over the cooling fins, no clogged intake screen or any clogged fins. Right spark plug? Autolite 216 or equivalent. Make sure the carb is set correctly, and that the timing is set correctly. I think the biggest thing is airflow. It is extremely important that the engine be CLEAN. I beleive that is all. Good luck!

You wouldn't believe some of the rat's nests we have seen pictures of in here that was blocking the cooling fins and the flywheel fins.
