"New" 1250 with troubles

Well I did it again! Couldn't let em' put the old dog down, so I rescued another one from death. Wonder what I was thinking!!
So I now need the advise of the experts on a problem I've got with it. It turns over very well with a new battery, but I've got no spark. Changed the normal things, put on a coil from another tractor, condenser, new spark plug, and a plug wire from another tractor. Nothing. Also cleaned the points, nothing!
What am I missing here? Wires are all good, nothing out of place.
HELP!!!

Getting 12V to the coil? While cranking?

Is the ground strap from engine to frame intact?

Hey Matt, I gave it a quick look around the sides, front and back and see nothing. Would it be underneath? If so I'll have to raise it up tomorrow to look.
Think that could be the trouble?

There should be a fairly heavy ground strap from the right front corner of the engine to one of the right side grille casting bolts. That might be the problem because the engine isn't grounded through the engine mounts.

Then again, that might have been a stupid question...if the starter cranks over, it's grounded somehow.

Is your new spark plug for sure good?

I took it out of one of the other tractors that run. Not technically "new" didn't want to run 4 miles for a new one. So you're thinking the ground would'nt be the problem? What about the regulator? I've never worked on one of these, newer ones before. Isn't that the little box with the three wires going to it just to the left and back of the coil.

Think so Duke? Hope you're right!! Still have this no spark problem though.

I had to make sure so I looked ast your pics again and the tins are in good shape! Got side panels? Even the rust didn't look to bad. You'll get it figured out!
