Not Sure What I Bought
This is my first post here so please bear with me. I promise to do better in the future but, I'm excited about a find today and had to post something.
I have been driving past a farmstead for over a year that has a Cub sitting in an open front shed. I saw the owner mowing his yard with it last summer but this year it has been sitting in the shed beside a new 0 turn. Today I saw the owner in the yard so I stopped and asked him about the Cub. We went to the shed and I looked it over. It's a wide frame, 16 horse, hydraulic lift with a 48 inch deck. The hood is missing but everything else seems to be there. Moter turns over but the battery went dead so I didn't get it started. Tires are not weather checked. I would say it looks "fair". Don't know what model # it is. I asked him what he would take for it expecting WAY to much but he said $25. I pick it up Saturday. I will get pics and more info then. |
It is either a 169, "RARE" or a 1650.
Get us the complete serial number and will be able to tell you the model. Did it have a big black plastic fuel tank or a white metal tank. If it is white and the engine is yellow the model will probably be 169. It would look pretty much identical to my signature picture at the bottom on the left if it is a 169. |

Congrats on a great buy! Looking forward to your pics! :WWP: |
whatever it is, you did good at 25 bucks! See about getting the serial number and of course post some pics. Welcome aboard!

The 169 also has a S/G, while the 1650 has a starter. Can't wait to see your pics. :beerchug:

:Welcome2:
Sounds like you are going to have a lot of us envious of such a great find!!! Consider it one of many (E. Pluribus Unum)......you'll know what I mean by that later on...:biggrin2::biggrin2::ROTF1: Congratulations on that great cub. All of us are in suspense for those pictures!! Cub Cadet 123 |
?
Are you really the "Witch Doctor" or just old enough to remember that song?:biggrin2:

Got it home today. It is a 1650. Put the battery out of my 149 in it, new gas and some tinkering and got it running enough to drive it in the shop. Changed the engine oil, hydro filter and fuel filter and started it again and mowed with it for about 5 minutes. It needs some carb work and a bushing in the front axle pivot. Hoping to find a hood and side panels for it.
In my excitment over this find, I overstated it's looks. It looks rough but the fact that I had it running so easy and everything working I'm happy with my $25 1650 (even tho it cost me $35 in gas to go get it). Can't get pics to load :BangPC: but I'll keep trying. |
sweet find any way you look at it!

That's they way to do it bring it home and have it running in a couple of hours.
Good price too:) You will find a hood! Regards, Chris |
