What color is the front grill on a 122?

I'm in the process of restoring the 122 that I have and I'll be repainting the front grill. What color is it supposed to be? I can't tell from the pictures if it's white, like the hood, or if it's silver. Also, is it all the same color or is the front a different color than the insides of the grill?

Thanks,
Marshall

Marshall,

I may be wrong, but I have seen some NOS grilles that were actually plated, I would assume some type of chrome or cadmium? They look silver though...I painted the grill on my 102 with high temp "aluminum" color and it looks pretty close to factory.

Here is a pic of a 122 from a CC brochure...hope it helps :)

Mine came silver looking. Plated, but rusty all over. Gonna do the electrolysis thing & see what happens after a couple days? :bigthink:

Then spray paint it. Don't think high temp., paint would be needed?

Nik,

It doesnt get hot enough to require high temp paint...I should have clarified I only used it because I had some on hand from restoring a Honda CB750 a couple years ago, and it was the closest match I could find :)

I belive there should also be a screen in behind the grill, as one of my 102, 122's had a screen.

On mine I have to take headlite panel out then lift up on grill. It sits in 2 notches at bottom and panel holds top in

I painted my grill with aluminum paint and it matched my nos screen.
