Anyone ready for a CC brain teaser?
 

I am about to my wits end. It is a 1210 serial#769974. It runs fine, but the mower won't turn on.It has a new ignition switch, (Checked and re-checked correctly), a new pto switch ( Checked and re-checked correctly), and the clucth will engage it the reverse relay is jumped AHEAD of the relay. In other words, it you take a hot wire and touch it to the power wire on the top of the relay, not after the relay, the mower will kick on and run. Here are the two things that make it even weirder......... #1, when the relay is "jumped ahead of the reverse relay, the headlights turn on. #2, the reverse relay test ok, as well as the other switches, wiring, etc. I am totally stumped.
I got the wiring diagram for my 1210 on here, but it is only for sn# 720,000-750,037. Mine is 769974. Could there be a wiring difference here and I am missing something? Thanks, Jason

unfortunatly i cant help you with the wiring. but im sure someone with better know how of the 1210 will chime in soon.

I can't guarantee this but you might have the wrong ignition switch. Some 1210's had a K301 engine and later ones had a M12. The K series had points ignition while the M12 had a magneto ignition. They should use different switches. Make sure you got the right part number for the switch. According to Partstree, the part number you need is 925-3026. i hope this helps.

Here is a illustrated section of the PTO Circuit for the 1210 in your serial range. You want to look at your Reverse Switch (under dash) or the Seat Switch.
