Quiteline Starter question

Had a starter go out on my 1650 last year so I checked the parts manual and found that all the quitelines had the same part number starter. Had a 1450 parts tractor, so I took the starter off that and put it on the 1650. Everything worked fine until the starter quit yesterday. When I pulled it out and compared it to the one I took out last year, I discovered that the one I removed last year had 13 teeth on the starter gear and the one out of the 1450 had 10. I then checked the 2 1000's that I have and one of them had a 10 tooth and the other a 13. What gives? Which ones are correct or doesn't it matter. It appears that both will line up fine with the ring gear and I don't see any damage on the 1650 ring gear. When I look up on some of the sponser sites, they list both a 10 tooth and 13 tooth gears. Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks
Rod

The correct starter for the 1450 would be KH-45-098-06

Thanks Roland, I checked the part numbers on both of the starters and they both have the same numbers on it, but 2 of mine are 10 tooth drives and the other 2 are 13 tooth, that is my question, when I look them up on EBAY, some offer that part number with 10 tooth drives and others have 13 tooth drives, that is what is confusing to me. I don't want to tear up my ring gear on the 1650 as I know that will not be cheap to fix. Thanks again

Here is the correct data for Q/L Starters.

800 = KH-41-098-03 Starter = 10 Tooth-----> KH-41-098-06

1000, 1200, 1250, 1450, & 1650 = KH-45-098-06 = 13 Tooth-----> KH-45-098-11

The 1650 with K341 16 hp should have a 10 tooth on it for the extra power to turn over the larger cube engine. I am not sure what the parts books calls for from Cub but that is what belongs on it. It wont mess up your ring gear, the mounting housing on the 10 tooth is different to accomidate the difference in the teeth and diameter of the gear. Not saying a 13 tooth wont fit or work but if you have any cold weather starting a 13 tooth may not give you enough torque. 45 098 09 is a 10 tooth

The above statement is NOT supported by Cub Cadet nor Kohler. Below, is the actual part numbers from the Cub Cadet & Kohler Web Sites and it confirmed in my paper Parts Manual, per K-341AQS, Spec: 71221 KH-45-098-06----> 45-098-11 - 13 Tooth

Well, I pulled another starter off of another 1450 to see if it would fit on the 1650. It is another 10 tooth drive. Has the remains of the part number sticker, but can't make all of it out, but the last numbers are -06. Anyway, I put it on the 1650 and it works fine, so I am going to leave it for a while and see what happens I guess. Need to use it to get the lawn mowed if it ever quits raining!!!!!! Thanks for all the info
