There are variations of that round muffler, the $9.00 china/Mexico item is quite a bit louder than a genuine Kohler,Briggs Onan etc, that cost $30.00 or so. I once had a Briggs that lost the threads on the factory muffler, no problem I thought, went to the hardware and got a china cheapie. Oh boy, it was almost as loud as no muffler. I then carefully welded the original muffler around the pipe nipple and it was back to acceptable quiet. |
There's suppose to be a bigger muffler on there that was made to be a lot quieter than the smaller ones so you don't have the correct muffler on there.

This should be the correct muffler. You will probably also have to purchase the correct muffler to engine elbow:

ya, that muffler needs swapped. My 127 had the correct muffler but the baffle was gone inside. I got a replacement from Patton Acres and I would say it's no louder than a leaf blower or other typical GT.... I'm in a subdivision too, but all my neighbors are old and deaf! :biggrin2:

The stack on my 122, is nice and quiet. A friend of mine, couldn't believe how quiet it is. :beerchug:
