1811 oil pressure sender

I need to replace the oil pressure on/off sw on my tractor and getting at it through the front behind the grill looks to be the easy way but.... it is so close to the block flange that none of my sockets will fit over it. I can't seem to get anything else on to the nut surfaces because the flange is on the forward side of the motor. Anybody else removed this thing through the front? I did talk to Rich at Patton's and he said that he was not sure but that he thought a pressure gage socket might fit over it with the narrow cleareance. Has anyone tried this?

Rudy, I replaced mine on my 1811 when I had the engine out. Can you get a wrench on the fitting that the switch screws into?

Oil

That's a great picture. I did not know there was a bushing on the bottom of the oil sw. You are right that I might be able to get a small wrench on the smaller fitting and turn it enough to remove the whole thing. I always do better with pictures.
Thanks,
Rudy

Problem solved

I took another look at my oil press sw to see if it had the reducer on it. It didn't have one an bolted right into the engine block. So on to paln B. As I started to remove the fan shroud I noticed that the oil press wire had a cut in it where it went under the metal housing. Sure enough it had exposed wire that was making contact with the metal housing and turning on the low oil pressure light by ground. I replaced the short piece of wire and that was all it took.:beerchug:
