"The Bug"
 

I've been bitten and now there's a 104 up on the Canadian border for 3-bills, but that's a 3hr drive. Was wondering if I could get some input from you Cubbies about a 104, maybe in comparison to my 124. It has a deck.
Trying to include a pic. Wanted to know what the other lever/handle is just behind the lever to lift the deck.

Well the 104 is the same as your 124 except it has a 10 HP instead of the 12 HP. The other lever is to engage and disengage the PTO on the front of your engine. Very basically your deck's belt goes around it and it turns the spinning of the deck blades on and off.

Unless it runs really good or has a creeper gear or some other cool goodie, $300.00 may be just a little high.

Not sure what the big deal is about a 3 HR. drive... Call it a micro vacation, or name it whatever you want, I drive that far to work and back in less than two days. Even if you only get 20 miles to a gallon that's still less than fifty bucks in gas. Take you wife or girlfriend (probably best not to take them both) with you and stop somewhere along the way for a nice dinner... A little trip like that is whatever you want to make out of it, why not make it fun???

Everyone in california thinks junk is worth ALOT !!!!! In other words a non running needs this and needs that tractor should sell for no less than 400!!!! I love to see the prices of what cubs,our old cubs, cost anywhere beyond texas 100.00-250.00.I have been realy lucky on getting my cubs here but i am very very dilligent on checking all avenues of availability here,craigs list,ebay and back yards.I actually have passed up quite a few just because the want a fortune for them such as a 982 for 2000.00 a bit steep for me.I have however paid 700 for a non running 123 with weights and hydraulic lift,It was a pretty clean tractor but it didnt run and it was my first purchase,I didnt know value.As for the driving Possibly the farther you go the cheaper the cub.
To me is all about how bad do you want it can you afford it and how much are you willing to pay considering the value in your area.

3 hrs is not bad when you think of the reward for the trip. I drove 8 round trip for one of my Parts mule CCO's..

I hear you, there has been a rash of guys wanting insane prices without motors even. But a 105 just sold south of Madison for 125 on fleabay and it was fairly complete...

2g for a 982 is a bit high (with no toys), but there is one here for 4500 :bigeyes:


Traveling seems to be the deal for this hobby. Whichs makes is reason for a family trip :biggrin2.gif:

$2000 for a 982 is too high if it has no options. Lately I've been seeing 982's with no options sell for around $1600. If you add the rear 3pt and PTO, those are worth around $450 each if they are of the tractor. The frobnt hydraulics sell for around $250, and the turning brakes sell for around $200. So if you have one fully decked out ,and power steering was never a option for 982's, $2700 is a fair price in good condition. Actually, mine is for sale on tractor house as we speak, for $3300 with a rear grader blade and a brinly 3pt plow. I priced it high so I would have a little wiggle room for bargaining.

Im just used to the deals i get on the narrow frames I have!!!
Ill have to wait till the kids move out to get a 982!!!Thats not even possible for me!!

Fill I get you on the "bug" Ive been going back and forth with a guy about what seems to be a 100 and went and looked at a 125 real close,only 45 min. away, today,It has new ags dual wheel spacers and a hydraulic lift,rear lift/three point,and a mower deck!!It has clean paint and very little rust a good pto and a new bearing in the deck,Im not particulary fond of the style of the 125 with the zig zag grill and white dash but the extras are worth it!He even has "pickeled" the motor,it hasnt ran in a while.
Oh and I already have a 70 a original and 2 123's.....Talk about the "BUG" !!! I have a REALY hard time taking parts or using parts off a good usable tractor and selling the rest,I want to save them all!! Eventually ill take the extras off like weights,ect and sell a running tractor!!I also find something else when I have money for paint and parts!!!
