147 is in the family
5 Attachment(s)
I bought a 147 yesterday, (pictures below) did some very minor work on it last night and today and it went to a new home today.
(Dont be scared, the old gray haired guy on the tractor, that's me:)) The 147 has a newer 12 HP engine installed. It has all the normal Cub problems. Wrong engine. Choke cable disconnected and froze, Front wheels pigeon toed. Seat frazzled. Hood latch missing Wires all gone to pot. Wrong deck 48 inch, but seems to cut grass. Leaking a little tranny fluid. Brought this home and had time to give it a bath and check some stuff. When Eric (son) came over today he said he liked it so we loaded it back on the trailer and it went home with him! His 106 is getting tired, engine wise, so maybe he will get this one working to mow yard. Heck, Ethan, his girlfriends son mowed half the yard while Eric and I played with other cubs. It does have the electric lift, and came with a front push blade and the original 42 inch deck which is in bad shape. (donor deck) The mower starts easy and the motor sounds strong. It needs a lot of TLC. Including a oil change. If you see the post of the 127 with the tag mowers he restored that one for me and I have used it hard for the past two years. Never know he may dive into this one and bring it back to a good looking Cub. Chris |

Sugarmaker,
Nice 147! Sorry to hear you don't have it anymore, but it sounds like it went to a great home. :beerchug: |

Thanks Guys,
This Cub needed to get out of storage. I have been watching it for about 2 years. PO bought a 1641 CUB. Eric is very good with these machines and can fix anything. I may get a chance to take some more pictures as he works on it. He said he was going to go buy a throw away tractor but he knows the old Cubs are well built so I think he will be happy. I told him when he is done with it to bring it home. I don't think I will have to worry about that. How rare are the electric lifts? This lift functioned OK but the wiring is all bare and needs replaced, on the rest of the tractor too. Amazing that it even runs. It wasn't charging but I don't think any of mine do. Is there a real bullet proof voltage regulator system for these? I have fixed the wiring got them charging and they seem to vibrate and shake them selves to pieces! Regards, Chris |
