Sweeper re-birth?

I brought home my revamped sweeper tonight. Had been working at it in the shop at my old man's place. Now I just need it to STOP raining so I can try it out. :bash2: He gave it to me when he stripped the plastic drive teeth off it a couple years ago - I figured I could make it stronger and a little more reliable. Will see hopefully in the next day or two how I made out. So far I have almost $125.00 invested in it. And if it works out - its a FAR cry better than the ones Home Depot sells around here. They are way too light as far as I am concerned.

Friend of mine found these tranny gears for me. She spent about an hour or two one day looking through parts books and spied them in one of the older Massey Ferguson models. It passed one of her slow days at work this past winter. What else is a parts person to do? :biggrin2:

Looks great Mike!
Should do a nice job for you.

Wow, Mike....it really does look great, and much sturdier than the ones made today. This is a great topic for me, since I am in the process of shopping for a pull-behind lawn sweeper. So, that being said, what is the best one out there today? Parker? I haven't seen a new Parker lately, so not sure if their quality is still a high level. I only know they cost a bit more than the others. Hey, Mike....wanna sell yours? lol :HeadScratch:

We are having the same issue down here. So much rain I can't play with my new grass sweeper

Looks good, Mike! Can't wait to see your action pics. :beerchug:

Honestly, I don't think ANY of them are good quality anymore. Was looking at an IH sweeper on e-bay, but it ended up selling before I got to it. VERY nice looking. Red basket on it and honestly it looked like its been used a couple years and shedded after that, just dust on it. Oh well, I will keep my fingers crossed that it works out. Sun is trying to shine today - so will keep hoping its dry enough when I get home today to try it out.

Ummmm...Mooner....NOPE! At least not yet......unless it craps out on me, then I might be giving it away! :biggrin2:

:biggrin2: Not quite yet.....Could you imagine that conversation with the wife....."You want to build another shed to put WHAT in it!!  :Poof: :Slap:   ..... I want to get :BlahBlah::BlahBlah: finished in the house...and you want to build an IMPLEMENT SHED!...."

:OMG: :Phone: ...... HELLO! Yes, I'd like to request you come pick up my wife....I think her head is about to :Explode: :HeeHee:

I think I'd be safer if I just stored some at your place! :beer2:

Mooner 05-05-2011 09:15 PM

Still, it looks great and ready to go, Mike. I'll keep shopping, I guess. lol

mikepc 05-06-2011 06:16 AM

No I don't think I'd want that conversation. Sweeper looks awesome, nice work.
