Purchase of 106 CUB CADET

:Announce:
Well I went and laid some money down for a new right off the shelf 40 year old 106 Cub Cadet with a creepy gear.
:Woo:
:bigthink:
Let me see the battery wouldn't hold a charge, so I gave it 6 aspirin.
It wouldn't start so I put gas in tank.
So now it runs.
I took notice the shut off at the gas bowl leaks. what is the best way to fix that?
Oh yes the 106 runs really good now.

Yeah, These are great little tractors. I also need to make the same repair so I'm watching with you.

Here is an image of the Fuel System for the 106....

Most likely, the gas is leaking from the Bowl Gasket. Here is the Parts Breakdown for the Bowl Assembly....

ole 147, if it is leaking at the shut off valve, try turning the hex nut in on the valve body a bit more. Mine leaks there also, I just turned it in a bit more than it was and it quit (don't strip it out though)...

If it still leaks, I would just replace the entire sed bowl assy...

Congrats, on your 106 ole 147! Let's see some pics. :beerchug:

Hmmm! The gas is coming from the shut off valve #5 on the picture. I'll have to look see if I can find the nut. Both my cubs leak there. Well I found the nut , but no luck.
Still leaks. It wont turn. I still have a half tank of gas to.

The trick with the aspirin worked. The battery is 3 years old. I saved $25.00 minus the cost for 6 aspirin. So far I had no trouble with it I was pulling my trailer with the 106. I was hauling mulch around back for a mulching project I'm doing.
I have a fairly steep hill to go up for about 30 feet. The little cub took the load up the hill like it wasn't even there. I have a zero turn Snapper that couldn't pull the load up the hill. It just dug up the lawn.
Anyone want to buy a Snapper mower?

Thanks!

Can't beat em!
The pics are coming as soon as I get the painting of my 147 with the BIG RED JOHNSON! finished. The weather was terrible for painting. It's not a restore just a make it look better.
I'm picky I don't like driving rust buckets. The person that had the 147 before was a pig. Never took care of anything right.
Let me tell you about the front wheel. the one that didn't come off . It was a wheelbarrow wheel & tire. The tire had wheel barrow printed right on it.
Oh yes I put a different wheel and new gummies on it.
Well that's enough for now. more later.

JayBrd 07-06-2009 12:46 AM

Hey now, don't be knocking on wheelbarrow tires....:biggrin2.gif:

I actually had to laugh when I read that. Both my CCO's had them as fronts, in fact I'm still running them until the tri-ribs get here..

ole 147 07-06-2009 03:00 PM

Ok , but do you have a frontend loader on your cub?
I think the tires are rated like 300# max. I have tri rib on it now...
