K301 12hp?

This past weekend in my puller the motor ran great. After my last pull of the night i was blowing blue flames from the pipe 2 feet in the air.

i took me engine apart and I have it at the machine shop now to get some work done. Shaving the head to the lowest legal limit, decking the block so it is true, and getting a valve job.

Also getting it honed. It is still a standard bore engine. (very very clean no carbon deposits or sludge anywhere)

I was told to reuse my old valve springs because weaker valve springs is an advantage. I always thought different. i raced karts for years and we would buy a case of stock valve springs and check the stiffness and maybe use.

Why would i want used weaker springs? We run without a Governor.

I went ahead and ordered a set of Vogel valve springs and retainers. Single Coil. I also have a cam, set of piston rings, billet pressure plates, fiberglass/carbon clutch disk, 25 pound steel flywheel, 6 lug clutch driver with bearing instead of a bushing, and a new alum. clutch driver adapter.

The engine block is at the machine shop getting the head decked and the top deck of the motor decked and trued.

They are also doing a valve job and putting a fresh hone (cross hatch)

How should I break this motor in when I get it together? I am running methanol.

I am wondering how much HP I will be gaining with those improvements.
