Rear Wheel Seal on a 73....
I noticed tonight that my 73 had oil on the rear rim from the inside, so it looks like my seal is bad. I've never replaced one before, so I have a couple of questions about it. First, how hard are they to replace? Second, should I replace both at the same time or just the one that is bad right now, since the other one is not leaking at all? Third, what tools will I need to replace it? and last, About how much money should I expect to spend on this project? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!!! Have a Happy Easter:bouncy::Woo::Woo:

Well it looks like a leaking oil seal in the axle.
Cub Cadet still sell those seals. I would replace both of them. The manual shows you how to do it. Lets see,Hytran about $15.00 a gal. you will need almost 2 gals.seal is around $12.00 each.Rear cover gasket around $10.00.Whilest your in there you can clean up the inside of the tranny.I do believe the procedure is is in the manuals section. if not shoot me an email and I will send you a copy. |
Thanks. I'll have to check my manual on that or look it up. I appreciate the feedback!
