2072 lift mechanism
 

While working on the deck on my 2072, we found a lot of wear on part of the mule drive/lifting assembly caused by part of the tractors lift hitting it. The piece on the lift shaft that hits the adjutable stop block to control the height, would slip far enough over to miss the stop. If it was far enough in it would come down on the edge of the mule drive. It has been hitting for years as it has really worn away all the pieces that make contact. Since I have no plans to ever do anything but mow I cut the end off that was hitting the mule drive. As best as I can tell it was just bad engineering, nothing looked bent. I've still got to put shim washers between the shaft and the frame so it will stay lined up with the stop block. Anybody else ever seen this problem before.?

I haven't heard of that problem before, regarding the rockshaft lever clearing the stop. That sure is alot of side to side play. Somethings definitely not right. I was thinking if the roll pins in the shaft were sheared, causing the rod/shaft to slip out from the rockshaft assy, then it wouldn't probably lift at all. Maybe some pics would help out. Also what deck do you have? I have the 60" haban and my rockshaft lever does swing down and rub the undercarriage a little bit but not to where it causes any problems.

Is this what you are talking about? You can see that mine bumps it a little bit.

That's it--looks like a design flaw. Mine had some serious wear and burrs on those 2 pcs. I didn't want to run the chance of damaging the mule drive so I cut it off right below the hole. Now I don't have to worry about it. I am going to put a washer on the shaft so it can't slip out past the stop block. I forgot to mention it is a 60" Haban.
