Cub 72 - Grill Plating
 

Does anyone know what plating was on the original 72 grill?

Has anyone re-plated an original (72) grill? What was the out-come?

Here's what I'm dealing with. Does anyone have experience re-plating front grilles?

I've never dealt with one, but from the looks of it, it seems similar to the silver paint that IH used on the outer rims on the big tractors, just a suggestion might have to look deeper though.

I'm pretty sure it's a plating. Either zinc or tin is just a guess at this point. I think I'll remove the grill and have it tested.

Didnot know it was plated. Thought it was aluminum enamal IH part # 996-356r2 [12oz. spray can] I had painted mine black, but will be looking for something close to the aluminum enamal paint for mine.

Here's a close-up of the grill. To me it looks like it's plated. The "coating" doesn't scratch very easily?
